31s  near Ffestiniog   The nuclear flasks from Trawsfynydd on the horseshoe curve, 21 April 1995
The power station had finished generating by now; the trains were taking away the remaining spent fuel. This stretch of line, the former GWR route from Bala, was built to 2ft gauge initially.
47 853 Didcot N Jcn   47 853 heads a southbound "Inter City" liveried rake through Didcot North Junction, 28 May 1997

37422 Llandudno Jcn   37 422 heads an eastbound service away from Llandudno Junction, 21 April 1995

The railway here passes the neatly restored locks of the Kennett and Avon Canal

60 034 Little Stretton   60 034 nears the summit at Little Stretton with a northbound steel train, 7 June 1998
The long climb to Church Stretton taxes these trains, though the 60s give little outward sign of effort.

Like its classmate, the loco bears the Transrail livery
