We start with a class 25 hauling a Crewe - Cardiff train, in the summer of 1978. It is seen passing the remains of Hadnall station, just to the north of Shrewsbury
Here's another member of the class, passing Madeley Junction with a parcels train for Wolverhampton as the sun sets on another fine summer's evening. The site is now surrounded by the factory units of a Telford industrial estate.
Green Arrow accelerates away from York with a steam special, 1978
A fine evening of bright, strong sunshine at Bayston Hill, just south of Shrewsbury - and three southbound loco-hauled trains - a couple of 47s and another 25-hauled Crewe - Cardiff.

Summer 1978
September 1978 - enthusiasts weekend on the Severn Valley sees 70000 Britannia on a Foley Park shuttle.
Some of the "other" shots taken on a day out snapping steam. 5690 Leander was the star attraction; while waiting for the special we saw a 25 on a return working to the Peak quarries, and 40 082 on a westbound cement (?) train. Later we had a look at the western portal of Standedge tunnel, where a class 104 emerges with a Manchester-bound working.

24 Feb 1979

A wet day in the Peak District - and a rather strange double-header - the Midland Compound and Green Arrow.

The pair are seen firstly near Bamford (I think), then getting away from Sheffield on the bank through Attercliffe Road station.

 26 May 1979

To finish as we started - yet another class 25 trundles along the Furness line near Grange over Sands with a train of oil tanks, 2 August 1979
