The metre gauge network extended some distance beyond the northern limits of Porto, and today we would explore it a little further. We headed first for Vila do Conde, named after the substantial Roman aqueduct. We were more interested in the railway viaduct, where three 2-8-2T-hauled trains are seen.

Tram no. 204 in the centre of Porto A 2-8-2T crosses the bridge at Vila do Conde E144 at Vila do Conde (the Roman "conde" visible left)

Our next destination was Povoa de Varzim, where 0-4-4-0T E162 is seen arriving, closely observed by a local urchin!. Lastly, we retraced our steps down the suburban lines to Senhora da Hora, where E143 is depicted on a southbound passenger, and E93 scuttles along with a northbound freight.

E143 attacks the bank near Vila do Conde E162 arrives at Povoa de Varzim E143 hurries through Senhora da Hora E93 heads a northbound freight through the Porto suburbs
