© Geoff’s Rail Diaries 2011 The household authorities were visiting Edinburgh, for a trip to a museum which was not particularly "up my street" (can't remember exactly what, but I've a feeling it involved doll's houses...) - so I opted out and, arrangements made for a rendezvous later in the day, headed for Waverley. I'd spent the odd minute there before, but never really had time to get the feel of the place. Here are some pictures taken on the occasion, starting with a walk via Princes Street Gardens (who needs miniature railways in the garden?). Not a bad afternoon's entertainment - quite a good variety of motive power, not to mention the liveries, after years of rail blue. And, to my mind, a real station - one of the best in the country. 150 245, Princes Street Gardens 91 016 heads for Glasgow, Princes Street Gardens 107 040, Princes Street Gardens 150 257, Princes Street Gardens Waverley east end from the Mound 158 709 heads for Perth via Kirkcaldy 91 011 propels a southbound working Inter-City liveried 47, Waverley 107 040 107 040 leaves - Glasgow via Shotts 47 674 "Women's Royal Voluntary Service" 305 501 arrives with eastbound service 91 023 Glasgow-bound service - seen through the tunnel... 107 044 departs... ...passing 150 245 arriving 91 009 86 at platform 10 47 674 at the east end 47 674 poses at the east end
