We visited the 7¼" gauge miniature railway at Weston Park last year - the annual steam day - and had great fun. At the same time, I was conscious that we hadn't seen the Beyer-Garratt which apparently lived on the line. But I was assured that it would run this year...

Steam in the woods - the American train  The triple-header  The double-header - out on the line

The line needs no further explanation - for more details see last year's page "Weston Park". And the Garratt? Yes, a very fine locomotive. "Mount Kilimanjaro" seemed to Day's endhave little trouble with its train - just a whiff of steam and it was away. In the meantime, two other trains ran around the line - a double headed American-outline consist, and a triple-headed train of UK narrow-gauge model stock. The locomotives hauling the latter were "Charles", clearly based on the well-known Festiniog pair's brother; "Kanchenjunga", in the style of the Darjeeling - Himalayan line, and "Gillian", which looks to me like a product of the Exmoor workshops (I'm guessing - anyone know for certain?)
