Pictures taken 31 March 1980, on the line from Ledston Luck colliery to Peckfield Colliery, where the coal was handled. Peckfield was alongside the Leeds - Selby line at Micklefield. The locomotives seen in action on this 2'6" line were at the time almost brand new, built by Simplex Mechanical Handling (formerly Motor-Rail) the previous year. They are no.18 (SMH 101T.018) and either 19 or 20 (101T.019 or 101T.020). The line - and the pits - closed a year or two later; No 18 later saw service (regauged to 900mm) on channel tunnel construction work, before being rebuilt (and regauged again) by Alan Keef into the locomotive now operating on the Leighton Buzzard line - their "Beaudesert"
