Our last day's outing took us to another junction with the metre gauge - this time the Braganca line, served by a fleet of diminutive 0-6-0 and 2-6-0Ts. E56 is seen at Tua station, another is seen arriving on the dramatically- situated line down the gorge, and E112 is seen leaving. Also seen in action are two 4-6-0s, one of each type. 286 is on a freight, which was sidelined to allow a passenger train, hauled by no 292, to overtake. And that was it. We left Regua in the late afternoon, pausing at Porto for a substantial meal that evening, before boarding the overnight train. Nearly two days later my rail journey home ended at York, "Deltic"-hauled from Kings Cross. It had been an excellent trip - must go again one day (I believe things have changed a bit...). © Geoff’s Rail Diaries 2011 4-6-0 286 at Tua 4-6-0s 292 and 286 at Tua 4-6-0 292 leaves Tua E56 simmers at Tua A narrow gauge train arrives at Tua A narrow gauge train approaches Tua E112 leaves Tua
